CHEXS

CHEXS were in touch recently to update us on their targeted holiday provision we helped to support.  Based in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, CHEXS is a youth and family support charity working together with schools to help disadvantaged and underperforming school-age children and their families.  They aim to raise self-esteem, skills, wellbeing and aspirations by identifying and tackling behavioural and confidence issues that are preventing the children from achieving their potential.

The aspiration building holiday programmes they ran were for 62 children aged 8-11 who took part in various fun activities, each with a learning element included but designed to use multiple skills to raise confidence.  Prior to attending, the team met with all beneficiaries and their parents to explain the programme, motivate participants and jointly agree personal targets.  The children took part in many fun tasks during the programme such as constructing towers and building bridges to help everyone escape from shark infested waters! Some excellent and positive feedback from those who attended was received with almost all saying they “felt good about their lives“. Our picture certainly shows some great teamwork!
